I’M BETTY EVANS

A retired second grade teacher and former newspaper editor, who now works part time teaching graduate level courses to education majors. She accomplished her undergraduate degree at Northeast Louisiana State College (now University of Louisiana at Monroe) and received her Master of Education degree from the University of Arkansas.

As editor of a weekly newspaper for 15 years, Mrs. Evans was responsible for keeping people abreast of local news and events. Her responsibilities also included serving the community on boards and committees. Her writing and photography received numerous awards from the Arkansas Press Association. An award winning Arkansas Master Economics Teacher, she has presented workshops at several national Economic Council conferences, teaching educators how to integrate the teaching of economics in their classrooms. She was chosen to participate in an Economic Study Tour of Eastern Europe, where she and other educators visited schools in Lviv, Ukraine, observing how educators there utilized curriculum materials of the United States Council for Economic Education. Mrs. Evans has also worked with other educators in curriculum development for teaching economics and science.
